Wave equation: speed (m s⁻¹), frequency (Hz), wavelength (m), period (s).
Echo distance: total time (s), speed of sound m s⁻¹. Factor of 2 because sound travels to reflector and back.
Snell's Law: refractive index , angle of incidence , angle of refraction . Angles measured from the normal.
Refractive index in terms of wave speeds: speed of light in vacuum m s⁻¹, speed in medium .
Real and apparent depth relationship for a flat surface.
Critical angle for total internal reflection. TIR occurs when and light travels from denser to less dense medium.
Lens magnification and lens formula: image distance , object distance , focal length . All distances measured from the optical centre; real distances are positive.
